WHAT IS muay thai?

Muay Thai is referred to as the "art of eight limbs" or "science of eight limbs" because of its use of eight points of contact in combat. The hands, elbows, shins, and knees become the eight tools in fighting as opposed to two tools (hands) in boxing and four tools (hands and feet) in other styles like kickboxing. Muay Thai began as a fighting technique used in warfare and eventually became a spectator sport in which opponents fight for entertainment.  In current times, Muay Thai has become integrated into mixed martial arts sports and commonly practiced for health, fitness, and self-defense.
